WHEREAS, the foundation and stability of our State are due in great part to the meritorious acts of individuals who are wholly committed to "the betterment of the community" as demonstrated by their leadership, professionalism, and personal contributions to the well-being of the public good; and

WHEREAS, STANLEY E. LEVIN is recognized both nationally and locally for his extensive work as a welfare rights, class action attorney, whose illustrious carrer has been devoted to public interest practice; and

WHEREAS, very few individuals have won the respect and admiration of so many as STANLEY E. LEVIN has by his acceptance of professional challenges to assist the poor, the disabled, the disadvantaged, and the community-at-large; and

WHEREAS, this well-respected leader's commitment to public service is noted by his impressive professional record and his early beginnings as a young attorney: while in law school in New York City, STANLEY E. LEVIN worked for two years to Columbia University Center for Social Welfare Policy and the law and subsequently was recruited to Hawaii by then Supreme Court Justice Masaji Marumoto for a one-year clerkship; and

WHEREAS, his dedication and commitment to public service is reflected in the notable positions of responsibility and leadership that STANLEY E. LEVIN has taken on: a public interest litigator and then the Director of Litigation at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii; a founding partner of the Honolulu law firm, Davis and Levin; legal counsel for The Habilitat; and his impressive handling of various class action discrimination cases; now, therefore,

The House of Representatives of the Eighteenth Legislature of the State of Hawaii hereby honors and commends STANLEY E. LEVIN on the celebrated occasion of the Forty-Fifth Aniversary of the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii for his invaluable professional and personal contributions to the law profession and to thecommunity, and extends to him its warmest aloha and best wishes for his untiring and caring efforts to help those in need and to public service.
